Who Will Avoid The Big One at Talladega in the Aaron’s 499

May. 3rd 2013

This will only be the second race this year on a superspeedway. The new Gen 6 car developed a game of follow the leader at this year’s Daytona 500, but the race teams have had ten weeks to work on their new vehicles. Pack racing should return to Talladega, and as is always the case, there is not a question of if a huge wreck will occur, but rather when and where “The Big One” will claim more Talladega victims. If a race car driver Sunday in the Aaron’s 499 is merely at the right place at the right time, avoiding a huge pileup can vault him (or her) into victory lane.

Historic Daytona 500 Kicks Off 2013 Nascar Season

Mar. 1st 2013

Danica Patrick took the Daytona 500 pole, Jimmy “5 Time” Johnson won on a racetrack that generally hates him, and the DRIVE4COPD 300 Nationwide Series kickoff sent an engine into the stands. That is how the historic opening week of NASCAR 2013 went into the record books. Running in her first full season this year, just about everything that Danica Patrick does will mark history. She was the first female driver ever to win the pole for the Daytona 500, and finished a very respectable eighth on the day, another record as the highest finish for a female driver in Daytona 500 history.

Danica Captures Pole, Joins Junior and Kenseth as Vegas Odds On Favorites

Feb. 22nd 2013

NASCAR’s Sprint Cup is the big daddy of all the racing series held every year. And they do something a little different than other major sports. Baseball, basketball and football build up for a season ending finale with their biggest event. But in NASCAR, the Daytona 500 starts the entire season off with the biggest race of the entire year. Held annually at the Daytona International Speedway in beautiful Daytona, Florida, this single race can change a virtual unknown into a household name. No single race anywhere on the globe has the ability to totally change some driver’s life quite like the Great American Race.

2013 Nascar Sprint Cup Series – The Key Word This Year is Change

Feb. 14th 2013

As the top racing series of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), the Sprint Cup or Cup Series is named for its current sponsor, Sprint Nextel. And the champion at the end of 2013 will be the driver who outlasts his (or her in the case of Danica Patrick) competitors through a grueling 36 races. Sprint Cup pit crews are tasked with tweaking every bit of horsepower and fuel conservation out of their driver’s car each week, making changes as the Sprint Cup moves back and forth between flat tracks and restrictor plate tracks, road course tracks, short tracks and intermediate tracks.

Nascar Fans Gearing Up for Sprint Cup Series Kick Off at Upcoming Daytona 500 Race

Feb. 8th 2013

Technically, the Daytona 500 is just another of the 36 Sprint Cup 500 mile stock car races, this one held in February at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. But that is like saying Brad Keselowski had an “okay” year in 2012, or that Jimmie Johnson is a “pretty good” driver. The Great American Race every year is guaranteed to have at least one massive, multi-car collision which helps dictate the winner, as well as bumper tapping, paint trading excitement.

Sprint Cup Race for the Chase Heating Up Early

Jun. 24th 2012

With his win last week at the Michigan International Speedway (MIS), Dale Earnhardt Junior brought an end to the four-year, 143 race losing streak that had begun to define him as a NASCAR racer. His last victory? It came on Father’s Day four years ago, where he ended a 76 race losing streak right here at MIS. Year in and out the most popular driver in all of NASCAR, the win came once again on Father’s Day, a befitting venue for the man whose father was one of the all-time greats, and whose fans still religiously wear black #3 gear every race day. That win also vaulted Earnhardt Junior into second place in the Sprint Cup standings. Matt Kenseth currently sits in the number one spot in the Sprint Cup championship hunt, a position he weakly holds with only four points separating him and the hot Earnhardt Junior.

May. 25th 2012

The Indiana Pacers called the Miami Heat’s bluff and they got burned. The Pacers decided to play physical against the Heat and it backfired. Miami came out in the last two games and showed the Pacers how to play basketball. LeBron James and Dwayne Wade combined for 59 points last night and Mike Miller hit some key three point shots. When James and Wade are this hot there is no team in the NBA that can touch them. What was so interesting is the Pacers had balanced scoring last night and they could not keep up.
