Tonight is a big night on your favorite reality singing talent show. The Voice is holding its Top 8 Performance Show this evening, pitting the talented Ray Boudreaux, Cole Vosbury, Caroline Pennell, Tessanne Chin, Will Champlin, James Wolpert, Matthew Schuler and Jacquie Lee against each other for one of the six spots which the field will be trimmed down to after tonight’s competition. Cee Lo Green will be performing “Amy” from the Goodie Mob’s latest album “Age Against the Machine” during the Top 8 Performance Show, with Robin Thicke contributing his “Feels Good” from his “Blurred Line” album.
Also, Ellie will be performing her popular single “Burn” from her album “Halcyon Days.” And while those singers are certainly worth tuning in to watch the show tonight, The Voice is all about the hopeful, up-and-coming talent as we edge closer to crowning the Season 5 champion. And a quick look at the Las Vegas odds on The Voice potential champions shows that Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler is one of the few favorites, after his incredible rendition of “Hallelujah” earned the aspiring young singer a 5X vote multiplier. You can watch his performance here:
Immediately after that, he rocketed all the way up to #1 on the iTunes top 200 singles chart, further proving his vast popularity. But right there alongside Schuler is the Adam Levine coached independent rocker James Wolpert, oddly enough the only competitor of this season other than Schuler to also win an iTunes multiplier. Christina Aguilera has also successfully led teen Jacquie Lee this far, even though she admittedly gave her worst performance on November 18, with her weak rendition of Zedd’s “Clarity”.
Cole Vosbury of Team Blake Shelton had quite the opposite performance on November 18, when he successfully sang Mr. Big’s “To Be With You”, nearly joining Schuler and Wolpert with an iTunes multiplier. Team Adam’s Tessanne Chin also did well with her rendering of “If I Were Your Woman,” and those two young performers rank very high on the list of Las Vegas odds on The Voice possible champions this year.
Team Shelton’s soulful single father Ray Boudreaux and Team Levine’s hard working Will Champlin also deserve some consideration as favorites at this point, as it is still anybody’s game in America’s favorite reality singing competition. The Voice official YouTube channel just hit 1 million subscribers, and the popularity of the show will definitely guarantee a successful career for the 2013 Season 5 champion. Who is your favorite out of the top eight performers left, and who do you think will be going home after tonight’s Top 8 Performance show?
