The Voice 2025 – Shakira, Usher In and Aguilera, Cee-Lo Out
Apr. 5th 2025
Cee-Lo will certainly be missed in the fourth season of The Voice, but Usher is a competent replacement thus far. And the sexy Shakira is a welcome replacement for Christina Aguilera. The Colombian star actually wears clothes that fit her, and looks great only three months after having a baby. She employs sweetness and humility where before Ms. Aguilera was catty and egotistical, and the two new coaches fit in very well with the returning Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. The reality singing show sometimes is focused more on the celebrity judges/coaches than the talent, and the Usher/Shakira move was a good one. The most recent episode saw Team Adam adding Patrick Dodd and Latin pop singer Agina Alvarez among its members, and that leaves Levine with four more spots to round out this season’s roster.

Twelve more acts competed in the second AGT semi-finals for a spot next to last week’s first lucky three, and the simmering intensity reached a boiling point!
A noticeably all-leathery “All That!” gave a sultry performance with their clogs set ablaze before they dipped their smoldering digits into footbaths of water. Their tingling toes then took a quick dry during the expeditious finale. If AGT doesn’t work out for these guys, surely they can bring in the bucks by promoting this new 90-second foot-fire pedicure at salons across the country.

The final eight contestants were given two opportunities to dance their way into America’s heart because after this week, the judges pass on their elimination powers to the masses.
The festivities began with an ill-choreographed “Eyes Wide Shut” meets “Shanghai Express” intro that ended on a confusing note. Meanwhile at the judge’s table, Sir Nigel wore a fire engine red blazer that likely fried the sensors in many a flat screen TV across the nation. He was joined by Wailin’ Mary Murphy and a bubbly Jesse Tyler Ferguson of “Modern Family” fame.

Only three semifinalists from last night’s grueling duel to the AGT finish line won the chance to move on to the final round.
Before learning their favorites’ fates, America was subjected to a triple-X-worthy and far from comical assessment of the remaining AGT talent from stage veteran Steve Harvey, whom Nick Cannon called his mentor.
Judging by Steve’s version of “funny,” Nick should choose to follow an actual comedian and not an extremely toothy, joke-killing impostor who simply fills up time for ad revenue.

The trio of judges were tough during the first round of AGT semifinals, and for good reason – only three of the night’s 12 acts would get a shot at the finals which will occur in two weeks.
After Andrew de Leon’s Wild Card performance last week, singing coaches had been pulling their hairs out trying to mold his voice more appropriately for his chosen genre. Well, there must be a group of “Kojak” lookalikes somewhere, because Andrew displayed tremendous improvement this week.

At the start of the show, it was quite appropriate for host Nick Cannon to note that throughout last night’s performance, not one single act was “X’d”- an AGT first. But the ultra-talented contestants didn’t have long to wallow in the distinction because it was soon time to send the majority of them packing.
Little Rascal shoo-in Sebastian beat out dental warriors “Bandaz Brothers” and the daring Ben Blaque, who must now resort to shooting darts at his local bar.

After recovering from the shameful lack of talent it suffered from last week’s YouTube show, the AGT stage experienced some of the best talent it has seen to date.
Last night was the “Wild Card” show in which each of the three judges had the opportunity to bring back four of their favorite acts from AGT past to compete for a spot in the semifinals. These underdogs brought a wave of talent fury to America!
