Vegas Odds On NCAA Big 10 Football 2015

Established in 1896, the Big 10 Conference is the oldest Division I college athletic conference in the United States. The member institutions are located for the most part in the Midwestern United States, running east to west from Pennsylvania to Nebraska and north to south from Minnesota to Indiana. Vegas Odds On Big 10 college teams generally reflect the fact that several of that conference's best college programs are also the best in all of Division I football. And in spite of the name, the Big 10 is currently made up of 12 schools since the addition of the University of Nebraska in 2011, and the previous addition of Pennsylvania State University in 1993. This conference is often times confused with the Big 12 Conference, which oddly enough only has 10 schools.

About Big Ten College Football

Regarding in-conference, the SEC is known as a group of teams who annually beat up on each other, making it hard to escape the year undefeated. Nonetheless, the NCAA Football National Championship team has come from the SEC the last six years in a row, from 2006 to 2011, and eight out of the last fourteen years. The recipe for such championship success? Fast, hard-hitting defenses and a "grind it out" offensive game plan which stresses running the football, wearing down the opposing defense, and keeping the opponent's offense off the field.

Under the current Big Ten scheduling format, each team plays a total of eight conference games every year. The division is broken down into a Legends Division and a Leaders Division, and each school plays the other five colleges in their division, as well as two schools from the opposite division on a rotating schedule, and one school from the other division that they play annually. Every year Michigan plays Ohio State, Minnesota tackles Wisconsin, Northwestern and Illinois match up, Iowa plays Purdue, Michigan State tangles with Indiana, and Nebraska and Penn State meet up.

This has created some incredible rivalries, and every year these traditional hate-games are some of the heaviest wagered NCAA Division I football games all year long. Vegas Odds On Big 10 rivalries like the Michigan - Ohio State game which has been played 108 times annually reflect what is usually a very close contest, and bitter rivalry. And although the Nebraska Penn State game has only been played 14 times, the matchup stands tied at 7 - 7, and appears to be shaping into a real barn burner for years to come.

The University of Michigan Wolverines lead the Big 10 with a lifetime .734 percent win/loss record, and with Conference Titles at 42. They also claim 11 College Football National Titles, the most of any Big 10 team. Close behind in both winning percentage and Conference Championships is hated Big Blue rival Ohio State, which has won .713% of their games all time, owns 35 Big 10 Conference Titles and 7 national crown's. And in what is one of the most widely recognized NCAA College Football rivalries, Michigan holds a 58 - 43 - 6 advantage over the Buckeyes. The two teams have combined to contribute an impressive 10 Heisman Trophy winners.

In 2012, Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin are all ranked as top 15 teams in most Division I NCAA Football preseason rankings, with Nebraska and Ohio State showing up in the top 25 in most polls. While the Big 10 has crowned a conference champion every year, Wisconsin defeated Michigan State last year the first time the title was decided on the field, in the first ever Big 10 Conference Championship Game. Both teams stand poised in 2012 to have some say so in the crowning of the eventual 2012 Big 10 King, as well as in deciding the BCS Division I National Champion.
